Vitra Miniature Eames Lounge Chair + Ottoman
Vitra Miniatures Collection.
The iconic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman is considered one of the most significant and beloved furniture designs of the 20th century. Correctly named Eames Lounge (670) and Ottoman (671), after years of development designers Charles and Ray Eames introduced it in 1956. The following year it was awarded the Milan Triennial prize for comfort and elegance in modern design. It was the first chair the Eames designed for a high-end market. Made from molded plywood and leather, the construction of the chair is more complex than any other chair designed by Charles and Ray Eames. Moreover, it is the most comfortable and most expensive piece of furniture the couple created. One special feature of the construction is the connection of the seat to the back. The armrests provide the only connection of the back with the shell.
