Another of Warhol’s homages to the fallen actress Marilyn Monroe, Marilyn’s Lips features just her evocative mouth in a seemingly endless field with imperfect repetition. The backgrounds all contain fades that add some movement and intrigue to the pattern. Two of the colorways, Beige and Pink, contain brushstrokes throughout which were lifted directly from one of Andy’s Mao paintings. The Grey colorway also has a color fade within the lips themselves.
