Anita Johansen
Your nationality?
Danish
What's your favourite design object?
A tool because it’s essential in every process of making.
What's your favourite city?
Besides Copenhagen, Helsinki is very dear to me. During my study at the Aalto University, I got to know the finish culture and mentality, and I love their natural and simple approach towards design and life in general.
What/who inspires your work?
I’m inspired by many things; materials, technical details, craftsmanship, culture, art etc. I have a huge admiration for the works of the photographer Trine Søndergaard. She has the ability to fuse past and present in a timeless composition.
If you had all the money in the world, whom would you give it to?
There are many good causes that need money, but I recently lost a beloved family member to a very aggressive cancer. So I would definitely give some money to cancer-related research.
What do you think is the most important thing to consider as a designer?
How to simplify. Adding to a design is easy, but to reduce the design until you only have the essentials in form and function is so much harder.
