In the plans for their chairs the Eameses frequently came up with a number of variations by combining a seat shell with different base frames or a different finish. Plywood Group, in addition to the bent plywood legs, was available from the outset with a chromed tubular steel base, which lent the chair a lighter look and by use of contrasting materials, made the appearance all the more exciting.
